Empower: Girls into Cyber is expanding in 2026 as Year 10 Girls into Tech, bringing free, hands-on events to multiple venues across Wales. From cyber to software, data and cloud, as well as frontier technologies such as AI, space, quantum and semiconductors, the programme will help more girls explore tech careers with support from industry role models.
Last year, Empower: Year 10 Girls into Cyber in Cardiff had a clear aim. To inspire more girls to see themselves in digital and technology careers. The event brought together schools, industry and role models to give Year10 students a hands on introduction to cyber security and the wider tech sector.
Girls took part in practical workshops, worked through real world challenges and met women working across cyber and technology roles. Feedback from students and teachers highlighted increased confidence, curiosity and a stronger understanding of future career options. You can read more about the Cardiff event and its impact in our blog from last year.
Building on that success, Empower is growing in 2026.
From cyber to frontier technologies
This year, in partnership with Reaching Wider, Empower evolves into Empower: Year 10 Girls into Tech and will visit multiple venues across Wales.
While cyber security remains an important foundation, the programme now reflects the breadth of modern technology careers. Events will explore pathways including cyber security, software development, data and analytics, cloud and networks, digital design and engineering.
Students will also be introduced to frontier technologies shaping the future, including artificial intelligence, space and satellite technologies, quantum computing and semiconductors. Through interactive sessions, hands on challenges and conversations with industry professionals, girls will gain a clearer picture of what tech looks like today and where it could take them tomorrow.

Powered by industry partnerships
Empower is made possible through the support of industry partners who are committed to improving diversity and inclusion across the tech sector.
Admiral, headline sponsor of last year’s Empower series, shared:
“Empowering women in cyber security and technology is essential to fostering a more inclusive and innovative digital future. Admiral is proud to sponsor Empower Girls into Cyber, an initiative that champions the inclusion of diverse perspectives and inspires the next generation to consider a career in technology.”
Industry partners play a vital role by delivering workshops, sharing career stories and acting as relatable role models for students exploring their future options.
What students say
Students consistently tell us that Empower helps them see technology differently. Reflections from girls attending the Cardiff event included:
These experiences are central to Empower. Giving girls the opportunity to explore, experiment and imagine themselves in future tech careers.
For industry partners
As Empower expands across Wales, we are looking for industry partners to deliver sessions at our 2026 events.
Sessions can include hands on workshops, challenges, demonstrations or career focused discussions. Whether you work in cyber, AI, software, data, space technologies, quantum, semiconductors or another tech related field, your involvement can have a lasting impact.
By taking part, you will support diversity in tech, engage with future talent and showcase the exciting work happening across Wales.
For teachers and schools
We are inviting teachers and careers leads to promote Empower to their Year 10 girls and register interest in attending an event.
Empower is ideal for students who are curious about technology, unsure about their next steps or have never considered tech as an option before. No prior experience is required.
Places are limited at each venue, so early registration is encouraged.
Together, we can help more girls across Wales see that tech, in all its forms, is for them.

We’ve created a FREE A3 Bilingual Poster for your school. This can be printed and placed anywhere in your school. It doesn’t have to be the computing lab. In fact, we suggest where there’s a high footfall to help increase awareness.
